Tessellated Sky- 17 Small Conjoined Canvasses by Yvonne Wells

Features

ARTIST NOTES: The painting is comprised of 17 various-sized individual gallery-wrapped canvasses, joined together by galvanised metal connectors. It is signed on the front. This piece represents the sky in the desert just outside Broken Hill in NSW. At the bottom and along the underside, the ranges just outside the town of Silverton are represented. The painted image does extend on all sides visible. The sky there is just so vast and stunning to see. It's a contemplative piece and would make the blandest room pop. I imagined it in a study, a child's room, or a bedroom. It does weigh more than a single canvas given it's joined by metal connectors so it functions, essentially as one solid piece. It's unique and most likely will continue to be so given most of the canvas sizes I used are no longer made.

ARTIST BIO

Yvonne Wells is an Australian artist of many talents. She has always followed a path of creative pursuits and moves between two creative places- painting and drawing Her paintings are opulent, dramatic and intensely colourful, while her drawings are conversely, free in structure, light and quite subtle.

Yvonne is inspired by the drama and earthy tones of old Renaissance paintings witnessed in France and her travels around the world. Her paintings are intensely coloured, hyper exposed, organic images that drift out of the darkness. Her drawings focus more on wildlife both here in Australia and overseas.

She is a curious artist and dabbles in many mediums and techniques. "Creating luscious , rich coloured paintings and drawings that vibrate with life, is always a joy for the soul. " Yvonne enjoys the process of creating all of her works. The excitement she feels when inspired by the subject matter, buoys her through those challenging times of a painting when all looks lost, only to find with persistence that it was there all along. Yvonne has also created works through commissions on canvas , on paper and as murals ( wallart).

Her past pieces can be found on her website.
