I am a multi-disciplined artist working across the board from assemblage/diorama works to abstract painting. I work as a freelance artist and have been for the past 30 years.
The works submitted are post-modernist hard-edged abstraction in style; the practice involves acrylic on canvas. The conceptual framework is basically non-representational in content but seek to evoke a response from the impact of pure colour through crisp/starlk delineation. I employ a wide palette of usually uplifting colours. Colour is the language speaking strongly for itself and in an abstract way can denote a theme and feelings. I am constantly challenging myself as to the infinite variations of geometric composing and patterning and am fascinated by the infinite interactions of colour combinations. The works are an abstraction of the visual experience translated through colour and composition all the while seeking harmony and balance.
The chromatic constructions are fuelled by the love of painting and inspired by an amalgamation of C2oth movements from Fauvists for colour, the Netherla ds' De Stijl movement and Germean Bauhaus minimalism for simplification and elimination of the non-essential; Swiss arcitict Le Corbusier's "Architectural Polychromy" and American artists such as Ellswoth Kelly and Kenneth Noland.
My works are held in private collection both here and in Greece.
