ARTIST BIO

As a retired teacher, I started painting 5 years ago and had the good fortune to be mentored by two professional artists. Dale Rhodes (Byron Bay School of Arts) who introduced me to oil painting, portraiture and life drawing. Ben Smith (ex-Julian Ashton teacher) has taken me through courses in classical portrait drawing, oil painting and portraiture. This year, I was a finalist in the national Lester Portraiture prize in Western Australia. I continue to work in portraiture, still life compositions and landscapes.
